A Disney trip means lots of time spent outdoors without shade (looking at you, World Showcase!) and we all know that Florida gets HOT. Outside of the crowds, most people’s biggest struggle is how to handle the heat. It’s just one of those things that can make even the most heat-tolerant person in your group seriously uncomfortable after hours in the blazing sun and humidity.
So we’ve compiled a list of the best (researched and in-park tested) products & gear to help you combat the heat and make your park days more pleasant.
Cooling Towels
Sukeen Cooling Towels (4-Pack)
Why we and our readers love it: These are soft, lightweight and easy to pack. Each towel is a different color and comes with its own storage bag. This makes it easy for everyone to keep track of their own. The mesh fabric makes these comfortable and easy to wear.
“My must-have are these cooling towels!” – Shannon V.
We asked our readers for their must-have items for the parks and so many of them mentioned cooling towels. One of the reasons they are great items to pack in your bag is that they don’t take up a lot of space and are super lightweight. If you are looking for an inexpensive, easy-to-carry item to help keep you from overbaking, cooling towels are the way to go.
We will admit that we were quite skeptical of the impact these would actually have. After hearing so many positive responses from our readers, we gave these a go in the parks and were sold. The cooling towels do make a difference. An added bonus is that these are larger and can cover your neck, shoulders and upper arms acting as a sun blocker.
Portable Misting Fan
KOODER Handheld Misting Fan
Why our readers love it: This fan has a rechargeable battery and it’s small enough to fit into your bag without taking up much space at all.
“This handheld fan was a must-have on our hot July trip to Disney World!” – Lea B.
The great thing about this misting fan is its size. It’s fairly compact and easy to carry, unlike the large ones you’ll find Disney selling in the parks. This is useful for all ages, too. These can come in handy when you are in the outdoor queues without much airflow happening. You might have to refill the water container more often because of the size, but if you are also carrying around a water bottle then this shouldn’t be a problem!
Portable Neck Fan
Hands-Free Portable Neck Fan
Why our readers love it: This fan has different speeds, is easy to recharge, and fits comfortably around your neck. Plus, it lights up so it can be fun at night.
“This was our first trip with these and it was so nice to be hands-free, these have 3 speeds and lasted most of the day. We recharged them with our power bank in the afternoon.” – Daniela O.
We think the biggest perk about these is that they are hands-free. Just put them on, press that power button and you’re good to go! The fans are adjustable so you aren’t stuck with it constantly blowing in only one place like some other similar products out there.
The one drawback to these is that they do take up a bit more space in your bag if you aren’t wearing them. However, if you are already carrying a larger backpack or using a stroller, these can be a great addition to your arsenal for beating the heat.
Hydration Powders
Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier
Why we and our readers love it: These small packets are easy to throw in your bag and use when needed during the day to keep you hydrated in the Florida heat.
“I brought some packets on our trip to Disney and I feel like it kept me hydrated. Just added a packet to my water bottle, shake, and enjoy!” – Laurie W.
It’s easy to get dehydrated running around the parks because sometimes you just forget to drink water when you’re having a great time. These hydration packets from Liquid I.V. are perfect to take with you because they don’t take up much space at all and you’ll just need to add them to about 16 oz of water to use. We all complain about the taste of Florida water so this can help make it taste better as well as keep you hydrated – bonus! These are pricier than some other hydration powders out there, but we like that these are made with quality ingredients (they are vegan) and no artificial flavors.
Our favorite flavor is passionfruit, but they have lots of options. You can check them all out here!
