The BoardWalk at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL.

Disney’s BoardWalk Restaurants, Ranked

Food & Dining

February 17, 2023

The BoardWalk: IYKYK.

While “Disney trip” and “relaxation” are rarely found in the same sentence, we here at WUAP are big fans of kickin’ back during our trips to preserve our sanity (and our feet!).

A little pool time or a snack break are obvious choices, but sometimes you want to take it easy and keep going.

Enter: Disney’s BoardWalk.

Home of our number one resort, the BoardWalk Inn (the site for many of our warmer weather stays ‘cos the pool is *chef’s kiss*), the BoardWalk is probably one of our favorite spots to visit on Disney property.

Offering an array of shopping, resort hopping, arcades, and plenty of family-friendly activities, we consider a stroll down the BoardWalk a must-do on your Disney trip.

Plus, the proximity to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios makes it an easy option for taking a refreshing break away from the bustle of the parks.

BoardWalk Eats

So, what are we eating?

While there are quick service bites and drinks scattered around, there aren’t as many options for sit-down restaurant meals

Psst. Don’t worry, we did the work for you and ranked ‘em.

RIP ESPN Club 🙁

4. The Cake Bake Shop – Coming Soon!

This eatery is replacing our beloved ESPN Club, and we don’t think we’ll ever get over it – yes, really! The giant sports bar atmosphere and bar food menu made this place so easy, and we will miss it forever.

Anyway, this shop looks a little… stuffy. Pinkies-up at your fancy cousin’s wedding shower type of bougie.

But, we also kind of love bougie.

We love cocktails and sparkling rosé.

We love truffle fries (truffle anything, lez be real).

And we love cake and fancy desserts more than anything.

The menu looks WILD (seriously – it’s like an upscale Cheesecake Factory. Google it!).

We’re guessing this spot will probably move to our #1 (ok, maybe #2) when it opens.

3. Big River Grille
Closed as of January 21, 2024

This restaurant on the BoardWalk sort of unexpectedly closed at the beginning of 2024. We shall see what will take it’s place…

2. Flying Fish

One of Disney’s better signature restaurants on property, Flying Fish is sophisticated and luxurious, which makes it a perfect ditch-the-kids date night spot

Expect to see sustainably sourced seafood and steakhouse staples with an elevated twist.

We especially like the NY Strip and the scallops. Ooh, and don’t forget dessert! You’ll find us diving face-first into the Cocoa Breach

1.  Trattoria al Forno

If you’ve been with us for a while, you know Trattoria al Forno is one of our absolute favorites that has us coming back nearly every visit.

Sign of Trattoria al Forno taken from outside on the BoardWalk at Walt Disney World.

The Flying Fish could technically be considered the superior restaurant since it’s signature dining, but we love Trattoria al Forno for being no-fuss. It’s an open-air Italian kitchen that’s casual, fun, and loud – in the best way!

We’d argue that it’s one of THE most underrated restaurants at Disney.

The pasta is made from scratch daily (the truffle gnocchi is to die for), and the pizzas are delish. The kids’ pizzas are usually Mickey-shaped, too. 🙂

Bonus: You can also come here for breakfast!

The food is excellent, and reservations are super easy to get. Save it for a rest day and browse the BoardWalk, or try it on your EPCOT or Hollywood Studios day!

Honorable Mention

Now this one isn’t a sit-down restaurant, but it’s great for all ages and our favorite walk-up spot on the whole BoardWalk: the Pizza Window!

Grab a pizza and an adult beverage, and sit outside to enjoy our favorite view in all of Disney World: Crescent Lake.
