Rain in Florida is practically unavoidable so you’ll need to make sure you are well prepared. The weather can change quickly in Orlando, so even if the day doesn’t call for rain, we typically bring our supplies with us!

We’ve compiled a list of our and our readers’ favorite items to have in your park bags for the inevitable rain shower. Because no one wants to walk around wet on their vacation unless it’s because of a trip down Splash Mountain, amirite?

Ponchos

SaphiRose Hooded Rain Poncho

Why we and our readers love it: This poncho is reusable, lightweight and breathable. It’s designed to fold back on itself creating a pouch to keep the wet side on the inside so it doesn’t get water all over the rest of your belongings.

In our opinion, this is the most important item in our bag. We bring it with us every time we head to the parks. We’ve tested out a lot of ponchos over the years and we’ve found the reusable ones and this particular brand to be the best. For a while, we were using the cheaper, plastic ponchos that are meant to be used only a few times and then tossed. (If that sounds better to you, go for it – we like these.)

The reusable ones offer much more breathability because they don’t trap in the heat and humidity like the disposable ones. This is probably our favorite reason for preferring these. We also like the built-in pouch that you use to fold the poncho back into once you are finished. It doesn’t get anything else in your bag wet. We could go on about ponchos, but we’ll leave it here for now. 🙂

Just don’t forget to take it out of your bag at the end of the day and let it dry out. No one wants a stinky poncho!

Quick Drying Towel

Microfiber, Quick Dry, Absorbent Towel

Why our readers love it: This lightweight towel dries super quickly and is able to fit in small spaces so it doesn’t take up a ton of room in your bag.

“This towel dries almost instantly and takes up almost no space. It rolls to fit in the drink holder on the side of a backpack. We wiped down so many wet seats after rain on rides with this.” – Jenny S.

Some people just don’t like being wet at all – we get it – that’s why this product made our list. This towel comes recommended as a way to dry everyone off quickly after it rains or after a ride on Kali River Rapids. As our reader mentioned in her recommendation, another great use is to dry off tables and chairs if you’re looking to sit down after it rains. Disney tries their best to do this for you, but sometimes there aren’t enough cast members or towels to make it happen.

Waterproof Blanket

BEARZ Outdoor Pocket Waterproof Blanket

Why our readers love it: This product is easy to pack in your bag and you can use it quickly as needed without having to dry anything off in the first place.

“This is great to use anytime – on the ground for fireworks or on a bench after it rains.” – Suzanne S.

A waterproof blanket can definitely come in handy if you plan on staking out a spot for the fireworks early and need a place to sit without getting wet or dirty. Similar to the quick drying towel, it can also be used to cover the wet chairs/benches after it rains if you are looking to sit down somewhere. It can fit about 3-4 people comfortably so that’s a plus. This big waterproof blanket folds back into its pouch so you don’t have to worry about folding it up and squeezing it into your bag. Just give it a shake before putting it away!

Waterproof Phone Case

ProCase Universal Waterproof Pouch

Why we and our readers love it: An easy way to carry just what you need and not have to worry about anything getting wet.

This one is mainly for the minimalist who doesn’t plan on carrying a lot into the parks with them. We like these pouches because they can hold your essentials and you don’t have to worry about the items getting wet or falling out of your pockets. These are also great if you plan on going to the water parks and want to keep your phone on you and get some fun photos.
