Blizzard Beach Itinerary & Easy Guide 2026

When you think of Disney World, most people forget to include the two water parks – Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon – in addition to the four major theme parks. Blizzard Beach may just be Disney’s most underrated park, but luckily, it’s also the easiest to enjoy. 

And, as a bonus, 2025 and 2026 guests staying at an eligible Disney resort also get free admission to the water parks on check-in day. So, instead of hanging around the resort waiting for your room to be ready or sweating it out at the parks immediately on arrival, you can take advantage of a wonderful benefit in some hot weather!

Unlike the main theme parks, you don’t need spreadsheets or boatloads of research (no pun intended) to have a great day here. But there are some helpful things to know if you’re planning a visit, so let’s dive in (ok, that one was intended)!

Your Water Park Itinerary

First, let’s start by saying you shouldn’t be overwhelmed with Blizzard Beach. It does not require anywhere close to the strategy of the theme parks, BUT, on a hot and busy day (think holiday weekends, Spring Break, and summertime), lines for the slides can be 30- 60+ minutes. So it helps to have a little strategy. And on the non-busy weekends, a little strategy means you’ll be walking onto many slides or having a 5-15 minute wait at the most. 

Here’s what is happening inside the water park:

• There are three “slopes” that will take you to most of the slides:
  • Red Slope
  • Green Slope
  • Purple Slope
    
    
• There is the wave pool, which has gentle, continuous “bobbing” waves
  
  
• There is a lazy river that encircles the entire park
  
  
• There is a dedicated “tween” area with mini slides and fun “icebergs” you can walk across
  
  
• There is a dedicated area for toddlers/young kids 
  
  
• There is a chairlift that will take you up to the top of the “slopes” and slides if you don’t want to walk up
  
  
• There are food and drink spots, lockers, and some shops around the park as well

If you know that you want to do any or all of the waterslides, especially the daredevil Summit Plummet (almost a vertical drop, so definitely a thrill ride!), it will help you to be at Blizzard Beach within the first 30 minutes of opening. If it’s a busy time like Spring Break, you may want to just be there at or before opening, just like you’d rope drop a park.

Here’s the ideal step-by-step itinerary you should follow:

1. Grab chairs first, then rent lockers if you want to do that (more on both to come).
   
   
2. Hit the Green Slope first and do those three slides. Start with Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher if you want to do either of those. Then Teamboat Springs.
   
   
3. If you want to shave wait times as much as possible and don’t mind walking around, hit Downhill Double Dipper on the Purple Slope next. To save yourself some walking, we recommend hitting the Red Slope next. Here, there are three slides in one place: two are open, one is enclosed. The enclosed slide will build to a bit of a wait, so prioritize that if you’re there on a busy day.
   
   
4. After you do the Red Slope, head to the Purple Slope. Hit these slides in order of wait times, and feel free to save any long waits for later in the day.
   
   
5. You will finish most of the major slides within the first 1-2 hours, max. 

Note: If you have only young kids and the focus is not the slides, you don’t need to mess with any of this. Head to the kiddo areas, the wave pool, or the lazy river!

6. Once you’re done with the major slides, the day is really yours! Hit the lazy river, wave pool, grab some snacks, whatever. We like to do the lazy river next, before it gets too crowded in there.

Getting Settled

You’ll want to first grab chairs and put your stuff down when you get into the park. If it’s not a busy time in the theme parks, it likely won’t be busy at BB, and it will be easy to get chairs. If it’s jam-packed, they could fill up, but you likely won’t experience this unless you’re arriving mid-afternoon on a busy day.

There are a few options for choosing your chair area:

• Parents with toddlers should head to the right after entering the park and grab chairs there. 

• There is an option for all ages who enjoy the main wave pool to grab chairs near the wave pool. You’ll want to go left after entering the park, then head straight toward the wave pool.

• Slide lovers, adults, and those wanting more privacy should go to the far left for chairs. It’s easier access to slides, and also much quieter than some other spots.

Inclement Weather at Blizzard Beach

It’s not uncommon in the warmer months for rain and lightning to happen throughout the day. With any signs of lightning in the area, Blizzard Beach WILL shut down attractions. This can happen for minutes or hours. 

When slides reopen, it’s like rope drop all over again, but with a larger crowd. If a slide you wanted to do had a long wait, consider trying to hit it again right when slides reopen.

Eating at Blizzard Beach

Lottawatta Lodge is the big quick-service in the middle of the park, near the front (FYI: the park is not big at all, so it’s super manageable!). While it has a large menu, there are a few other spots in the waterpark that have decent menus and different, more interesting options. 

Make sure to pull out your My Disney Experience app and check out all the “Dining” spots and their menus to see your options!

Quick and Easy Tips:

• There is a mini-donuts stand near Lottawatta Lodge where they fry fresh donuts served with dipping sauce (and sprinkled with sugar!). They’re not the best donuts ever, but they’re fun!

• At the time of writing, you can get a Dole Whip at the food kiosk on the far left side of the park. NOM!

• There is a full-service Joffrey’s in the park, so you can grab a coffee here just like any other WDW park.

• Most kiosks will have adult beverages, and there is also a full bar near the lockers. Blizzard Beach is one of the only places in Disney that offers a refillable beer cup. You have to do some math and really be drinking some beers to save money, but you will save a few bucks if you drink 3+ beers.
  
  
• We also noticed that you are allowed to wear sandals up to the slides, but you’ll be asked to remove them and hold onto them while you ride. Water shoes are allowed to be kept on for the tube slides, but you’ll still need to remove those for the body slides.

• We bring a minimal amount of stuff inside the water park and leave the rest in our car or resort. We also don’t rent lockers…we just leave our stuff near our chair and cover it a bit. While we have never had a problem with that (good people!), use your discretion. 

And that’s really what you need to know about Blizzard Beach! BB is one of those Disney gems that is a nice break from the parks. It’s where a little planning makes a difference, but only enough to enhance the fun, not ruin it. In other words, don’t overcomplicate it. 😉
