Pyrotechnics, a phenomenal soundtrack, and all your favorite Disney characters in one spot – what’s not to love?
No, really. Fantasmic! may just be our favorite nighttime entertainment at Disney World, period. And it is firmly planted in our “don’t miss” list, especially if you are newer to Disney or haven’t been in a while.
For a show this in demand, you might be tempted to follow online advice telling you to line up HOURS in advance.
We’re here to tell you that isn’t necessary.
If you’re set on seeing Fantasmic! (and we really think you should), let’s break down the best ways to see the show, work with the crowds, and make sure we aren’t taking away from your valuable park time.
Let’s dive in!
Best Times to Catch Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios

Fantasmic! is offered almost every night at Hollywood Studios, and it is often offered twice, with one earlier and one later show that happens at or even after the park closes.
This is also your friendly reminder to always check the My Disney Experience app or calendar for official times and the schedule before you visit.
If there is just one show, it will almost always get busy and oftentimes fill up completely a few minutes in advance.
If there are two showings, the first will be the busiest.
If there ARE two showings, we always recommend the later show if you and your group can hang a little longer. And while the crowds tend to thin at the park as the evening wears on, just know the second show can still get crowded during those busy school break and holiday periods – just not as busy as the first.
If the first showtime is your only option, that’s still fine. We’ll tell you how early to plan your arrival in the next section.
How Early Should You Arrive?

This is the million-dollar question, and the one we find is somewhat exaggerated. Finding seats for Fantasmic! is typically not an issue, unless it’s Spring Break or holiday season. And given the amphitheater-style layout, we don’t think there is really isn’t a bad seat in the house. Front row can be awesome, but back row means you’re seeing everything (and for longer).
But during certain times of the year, a little bit of light strategy may be involved.
Note: Seating is first-come, first-served, and Cast Members will typically guide you to a section systematically. In other words, you won’t be able to choose your own seat to an extent, but arriving earlier increases chances of front-and-center action or nabbing a certain area if that’s important to you. Just know you’ll have to arrive earlier than our suggested times for that spot.
During slower times of the year, there may be only one showing of Fantasmic on the schedule. If that’s the case, we recommend arriving 20-30 minutes ahead of showtime.
If where you sit isn’t a top priority, know you can often find a spot up until the last minute – especially if there are two showings!
If it’s a moderate time of year, you can still likely get a seat close to showtime, but we recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early.
If you’re visiting during a busier time of year (think Spring Break or holidays) and the first showtime is your only option, we recommend arriving 45 minutes early—an hour is safer though.
If you’re hitting the second show during busy season, you’re typically fine to arrive 30 minutes in advance.
Pro Tip: When in doubt about timing, or if you have a question about crowds or patterns, ask a friendly-looking Cast Member near the attraction, “Hey, what time has the show been filling up lately?” Asking for a direct observation will get you a more actionable answer versus just asking when to arrive (where the answer will always be inflated as a precaution).
Fantasmic! Dining Package

Oof, we’ve got mixed feelings about this one.
If it’s a busy time of year and Fantasmic! is a priority for you and your group, we understand you may feel you need to book the dining package, which guarantees seating. Or, you were already going to do a sit-down meal. And in that case, go for it.
But let us say this: you usually do not need to book the dining package to guarantee yourself a seat at the show. You can simply just show up early.
In our opinion, this is a Disney “extra” that just isn’t worth the splurge. Don’t take the park time (and the price of your admission ticket!) away from yourself in order to do a sit-down meal if you didn’t already want to.
Wrap-Up
Fantasmic! is one for the books, and a show we recommend to just about anyone who asks (and many who don’t). Certain times of year might require a little bit of strategy, but planning ahead will help you avoid the scramble of the crowds, or worse, wasting your park time.
